The Information Every Spring Supplier Needs
- Drawing or 3D file – PDF, DXF, DWG, STEP or IGES, with critical dimensions and tolerances marked
- Material – grade and standard (e.g. EN 10270-1, stainless steel AISI 304)
- Key dimensions – wire diameter, coil diameter, free length, number of coils, hook or leg type
- Performance requirements – spring rate, load, torque, travel or deflection
- Quantity – prototype, pilot run or mass production
- Finish – oiled, zinc plated, painted, electrophoretic, etc.
- Compliance – RoHS, REACH, material certificates (EN 10204 3.1), food-grade or medical requirements
Why Quotes Differ Between Suppliers
Price depends on material grade and diameter, tolerance tightness, surface finish, quantity, packaging and certificate requirements. A slightly cheaper quote may mean wider tolerances, a different material or hidden tooling costs – compare the full scope, not just the unit price.
Prototypes and Samples
For a new design, order prototype samples first. A good supplier will review your drawing for manufacturability, suggest improvements (for example on tolerances or material), and confirm the design before mass production.

Typical production lead time is 15–30 days. Samples ship by express courier; production orders can use air or sea freight, with DDP delivery to EU destinations available.
