European Standards, Leg Designs & FAQ

Leg Designs and Torque Calculation

Torsion springs store rotational energy and are defined by their leg positions, winding direction and torque. We produce straight, bent, hinged and special legs, with left-hand or right-hand winding as required.

When requesting a quote, the most useful information is: wire diameter, mean coil diameter, number of coils, leg lengths and positions, and the required torque at a given deflection angle.

Materials and European Standards

We manufacture torsion springs from EN 10270-1, EN 10270-2 and EN 10270-3 materials with wire diameters from 0.1 mm to 80 mm. Spring ends and leg forms are manufactured to DIN 2088 where specified, and RoHS/REACH compliant finishes are available.

Typical Applications

Door hinges, clothespins and clips, furniture mechanisms, automotive latches and pedals, electrical switches, safety valves and agricultural machinery.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which direction should my torsion spring be wound?
The winding direction (left or right) depends on the torque direction and assembly. We recommend specifying it on your drawing; our engineers can also confirm it from your application.

Can you produce torsion springs with special leg ends?
Yes – straight torsion legs, bent legs, hinged ends and custom-formed ends are all available.

What is the maximum number of coils you can produce?
There is no practical limit for standard springs. For close-wound torsion springs we will confirm the achievable coil count during design review.

Do you provide prototypes for testing?
Yes. Prototype torsion springs can be supplied in small quantities for functional testing before mass production.
